Crazy Read 2018 – #10 Love Does
What I Loved
FAITH BASED but appropriate for anyone who believes anything.
What a different style of book! I have always been a lover of people and this book made me proud of a lot of things in my life and also challenged me to step up and DO, not just survive and live through words.
“I’ve hit my share of rocks too, and those rocks have sent parts of my dreams hurling.
Yet Jesus continues to select broken and splattered people not just as followers but as participants.
He called people like me who can’t even figure out which end of a plastic bag to open His hands, He called people who trip every day His feet, and He called people who can’t figure out which way to turn a screw to tighten it or even stack a cake correctly the ones who would build a kingdom.
And then, if we’re willing, He serves us up – rocks, small bits of asphalt, and all”
Wow. If you are not a spiritual person, take the word Jesus out of this and read it again. What if that was just the universe? Or life in general?
The thought of us all being accepted and loveable, not loved but loveable and USABLE in this crazy thing called life no matter how broken we are was an incredible thing to dig into for me.
I consciously use my broken all the time to help but I often have imposter syndrome and wonder if I am enough to really help people or be part of something and this book cemented in me a little harder the idea that I just have to show up in life and it will match me there.
Another thing I LOVED was the challenge he did with is kids in Chapter 10!!
Who even thinks to email/write all those people to ask if they want to chat.
(backstory – his kids wanted to talk to leaders of countries after 911 so he had them write EVERYONE you can think of to see what happened! They ended up getting invited all over the world to have tea with world leaders and to find out what happened next? You will have to read book!!)
I have often thought of how I would love to chat with some pretty crazy people in this world and what would happen?
Would they even answer? Would they welcome this? I am kinda rumbling in this now and starting a list of the people that I want to write to in order to see what happens.
Stay tuned to see if I do and where it goes!
If you do read this book? Make sure you read chapter 27 a few times 🙂 That’s all.
