Crazy Read 2018 – Rise and Grind
What I Loved
I had no idea what to think when I picked up this book, but for some reason it caught my attention. Not in a good way like you might be thinking. The cover and the title looked aggressive and that is not me!!
I also am not a fan of the word grind. Yet I bought it and, as most things that I have strong emotions toward, there are things in the end that I really liked and loved. Rise and Grind was really good!
I am constantly being told to slow down, not push so hard, and to have more balance and as a welcome change, Daymond John basically says, “Hey lady! You ARE ALLOWED TO HUSTLE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!!!” — but not to the detriment of my family and health.
Rise and Grind is about those John has worked with or known, starting with their background and then going into their grind to the top. He interviewed crazy famous people (Catherine Zeta Jones, for example) and asked a lot of questions about how they got where they are, what their “rise and grind” is, and basic steps they took to get there.
I really enjoyed that! I have read a few books about this topic and this one stood out. John didn’t just ask people what they do now, he also wanted to know where they started and what they did to stand out of the crowd.
Rise and Grind is not hard to read. It was easy to keep turning the pages of incredibly inspiring stories and insights. I found myself going back over certain sections again.
Here are some of the amazing quotes from the book for you to think about.
