What I Loved

I had no idea what to think when I picked up this book, but for some reason it caught my attention. Not in a good way like you might be thinking. The cover and the title looked aggressive and that is not me!!

I also am not a fan of the word grind. Yet I bought it and, as most things that I have strong emotions toward, there are things in the end that I really liked and loved. Rise and Grind was really good!

I am constantly being told to slow down, not push so hard, and to have more balance and as a welcome change, Daymond John basically says, “Hey lady! You ARE ALLOWED TO HUSTLE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!!!” — but not to the detriment of my family and health.

Rise and Grind is about those John has worked with or known, starting with their background and then going into their grind to the top. He interviewed crazy famous people (Catherine Zeta Jones, for example) and asked a lot of questions about how they got where they are, what their “rise and grind” is, and basic steps they took to get there.

I really enjoyed that! I have read a few books about this topic and this one stood out. John didn’t just ask people what they do now, he also wanted to know where they started and what they did to stand out of the crowd.

Rise and Grind is not hard to read. It was easy to keep turning the pages of incredibly inspiring stories and insights. I found myself going back over certain sections again.

Here are some of the amazing quotes from the book for you to think about.

Rise and Grind! Remember what controls your attention controls your life. Where your attention goes, energy flows and so goes your life.

Rise and Grind! Keep in mind, opportunity won’t always knock if you don’t first build the door. Have a great day!

Rise and Grind! Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Rise and Grind! Remember ultimately our success springs from attitude, optimism, faith, and positive action – to do something that others may say can’t be done.

Rise and Grind! Remember! Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Rise and Grind! The secret of making mistakes isn’t to avoid ever making one again – it’s to recognize that making a mistake is not fatal! They are necessary stepping stones on your path to success.

Rise and Grind! Don’t forget, an idea is only as good as your dedication to execute it!

Rise and Grind! If you could kick the person responsible for most of your troubles, you would not be able to sit down for six months.

Rise and Grind! You may not be there yet, but you’re one step closer than you were yesterday.

Rise and Grind! Don’t forget, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.”

What I didn’t love

I didn’t love how much self-promotion there was. At times it felt like I was reading a sales pitch! You can tell that he involved in many companies. He makes sure to tell you throughout the book. I could have done without it.

Who I would recommend it to

People looking for motivation! There is motivation on every single page of this book and so I would recommend it to a lot of business owners or people trying to up their game in whatever area they choose.

Would I read it again
