Spring Clean your Life!

Does anyone else go a little stir crazy in the winter?? I do! All those long, dark months stuck inside make me dream about soft grass and warm breezes!

Sometimes it feels like winter will never end, but it always does, and that’s exciting for me because I get into spring cleaning mode! And I don’t just mean spring cleaning my house, although that’s definitely part of it. I also like to look at my life, my relationships, my calendar, and everything else.

For me, spring is a time for fresh starts and new growth. It’s the perfect time to brush off the cobwebs (literally and figuratively) and start getting motivated! This is your chance to clean away the old and welcome in the new.

Tidy Up & De-Clutter

We have a tendency to accumulate things. Not just in our homes, either. Over the years, our homes, minds, and lives become cluttered. That’s why a good spring cleaning should always include a bit of purging.

First things first, let’s clean everything up at home. And I do mean everything! I know it’s hard to find the time (and motivation) to get this done. But grit your teeth and get to work, because you’ll feel incredible once it’s all said and done. If you know me, you know I’m a clean freak. Nothing in my house stays dirty long. It keeps me sane! But I also know that for other people, it’s easy to slide into hibernation mode and let things pile up. It’s not that we don’t tidy up; we just don’t take the time to scrub everything.

Start by decluttering as you go through each room of your house. Throw things out. Recycle them. Donate them. Give them away. It really doesn’t matter – just get them out of your life. Having clutter in your home can make you feel stressed and disorganized, and it just gets in the way.

Then, set aside a couple days, pull out the cleaning supplies, and deep clean your home from top to bottom. Put on your favourite pick-me-up music or listen to a book or podcast, and scrub away. You’ll feel so much better when it’s done and you’ll be stuck in cleaning mode, which is perfect, because you’ll be in the perfect zone to clear out your mind too!

If you’re like me, your mind is always going. It never shuts off, even when you’re sleeping (or trying to sleep).

So, what’s taking up the most room in your mind?

Thoughts and emotions can make things pretty untidy up there. What negative things are you holding on to? Are you holding a grudge? Are you upset about a situation? This negativity is weighing you down. It’s time to let go. Work it out or move on, but do whatever you need to resolve it and file it away.

Technology also tends to be a major culprit for most people. So try to turn off the technology and get outside. Do some gardening if you’re restless like me, or just sit back and relax in the sunshine. Spring and summer won’t last long, so you might as well get the most out of them!

Life & Scheduling

Our lives get so hectic. We’re running from meetings to activities to family commitments.

So this week, I want you to stop. Hold up for just a second and think about where you’re spending your time and how you can clean up your schedule.

It all starts with deciding what your goals are. This is the fun part. I love setting out new goals as summer starts to come closer. For me this year, it’s finishing my book and running my new master courses (which are designed to help people achieve BIG goals!)

Whatever your goals are, make sure you have enough time for them. If you don’t, look at what else (or who else) is taking priority. Are the relationships that are taking up your time bringing you good vibes, or are they just bringing you down? Don’t be afraid to de-clutter everything from object, to people, to commitments.
