Crazy Read 2018 – In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About It
What I Loved
So short. So simple. So too the point. I loved this little book. It is a quick read and yet has a lot of insight in it. With all the books I have been reading, I have struggled with SO MANY CONCEPTS and SO MANY THINGS I MUST DO, but this one was just simple and good.
The book is written by Lorelai Gilmore (aka actress Lauren Graham) but no, seriously. I love her sense of humor and how she writes. I just have a love for Gilmore Girls and may have pretended it was Lorelai writing!! Lol! I may be sleepy…
Lauren was tricked into giving a commencement speech at her old high school by her dad and this is the speech in book form. Although this isn’t her first book, it’s actually her third, and Someday, Someday, Maybe and Talking as Fast as I Can were both best sellers.
Graham talks about life after graduation and addresses the pressure new graduates feel to choose a career and succeed in life.
I really enjoyed her advice on dealing with the tough stuff. “Here’s a secret: The lows don’t last any longer than the highs do. Like clouds on an overcast day, sometimes we have to face the fact that what happens to us in life isn’t controllable, and if we wait a while, don’t take it personally, and decide to enjoy ourselves anyway, the sky will eventually clear up. It always does. Then, one day, it’ll finally be your turn. After all the hard work and hoping and dreaming, the winner will be you”
How amazing is that? We live in the lows and struggle to see that one day it will be our turn. Step into the highs, enjoy them and embrace them, and wait for the next ones to come.
Another section that I LOVED starts on page 36.
“Maybe it’s not acting for you. Maybe it’s baseball or coding or taking care of kids. But whatever path you choose, whatever career you decide to go after, the important thing is that you keep finding joy in what you’re doing, especially when the joy isn’t finding you. Treat every day like you’re starring in it. Don’t wait for permission or good reviews. If you can do that, you’ll be surprised by how far you might end up sailing.”
LOVE this. For some reason, this little book dug deep in my soul and I loved it WAY more than I thought I would. So if you want a quick, easy read? Pick up In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About it. I guarantee you will walk away feeling a little more grounded and excited about your life.
