The Snow is Falling… MOVE!

Ah, winter! That magical time when hot chocolate is more than a drink; it’s a survival tool.

Snow is possibly making its debut and so is the temptation to hibernate. If you're somewhere between 35 and 50 and feeling like your goals are wilting faster than your summer plants, congrats, you’re right on schedule! But fear not, fellow seasonal slumper. But don’t worry, fellow winter warrior—Let’s jump into how to kick that winter fatigue to the curb and give your ambitions (both personal and professional) a much-needed shot of peppermint-flavoured zest.

The Winter Wither: What’s Going On?

As the days shorten and the cozy blankets start calling your name, it’s easy to let our goals slide into hibernation mode. You might’ve had big dreams of launching that side hustle or finally establishing a solid workout routine, but instead, you find yourself on the couch, engaging in an epic Netflix binge. Sound familiar?

First, know that it’s totally normal to feel a bit lethargic as the seasons shift. Winter naturally encourages a slower pace. But instead of letting your goals gather dust like holiday decorations in storage, let’s flip the script!

Goal-Setting in Cozy Mode

Reframe Your Mindset:

Time to swap “I’m slowing down” for “I’m gearing up.” Think of fall as your prep season for the grand finale of the year. Reflect on what you’ve accomplished so far—yes, even that time you finally organized your sock drawer counts! Celebrate those wins and use them as fuel for your next moves. You’ve got this!

Set Seasonal Goals:

Why wait until New Year? Create “Autumn Aspirations” that are tailored to the season. Break those big goals into bite-sized, manageable tasks. Want to grow your business? Focus on networking this fall—aim for two new connections a month. Looking to get fit? Set a seasonal challenge like a fall 5K or joining a local sports league. Make it fun!

Cozy Up with a Plan:

Take advantage of the cooler weather to retreat and strategize. Find your favourite comfy corner, and grab that warm drink (extra whipped cream, please). Write down your goals and the steps you’ll take to reach them. A little planning now can keep you motivated throughout the season. Plus, you’ll feel like the organized guru you always knew you were!

Embrace the Season

Snowy Walks & Mindful Moments:

Don’t underestimate the power of a brisk winter walk. Fresh air does wonders for creativity and clarity, and winter’s quiet beauty can be surprisingly inspiring. Bundle up, step outside, and let nature help recharge your mind and goals.

Join a Group or Class:

If you’re feeling isolated in your goals, it’s time to change things up. Find a local group or class that aligns with your interests. Whether it’s a book club, a fitness class, a business networking group, or a coach, surrounding yourself with like-minded people can reignite your passion and provide that much-needed accountability.

Celebrate Your Progress

As the season progresses, make sure to celebrate your wins—big or small. Did you finally tackle that project you’ve been avoiding? Treat yourself to a decadent fall dessert! Spent an hour with a friend instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media, or go see a movie. Recognizing your progress is key to staying motivated.

This winter, let’s use the seasonal shift to reframe our goals. The snow may be falling, but that doesn’t mean your ideas have to freeze! Grab that hot cocoa (because, at this point, it’s non-negotiable) and let’s turn these winter days into “I actually made things happen.”

Here’s to a productive and blissfully cozy winter!

Life doesn't come with a manual, especially when you're navigating trauma. But one thing I've learned is the importance of embracing the "fight mentality." It's about facing challenges head-on, refusing to be a victim, and choosing to fight for your healing and happiness. This mindset was crucial when I decided to take control of my recovery and not let my past define me.

Love is powerful, but it doesn’t work the same way for everyone. At its core, love tends to show up in three main ways: 1. Like Water There is always enough. You don’t run out. You can pour it into as many cups as you want or keep it all to yourself—but you control the flow. Some people get a full glass, some get a sip, and some don’t get any at all. But the source? Endless. 2. Limited Supply Think of love like pieces of paper. You only have a few. If you’ve given them all away and someone new comes into your life needing one, you can’t create more—you have to take from someone else. This kind of love feels scarce. It can create jealousy, competition, or the belief that if you love them, you can’t also love me. 3. Transactional This is love as a trade. A transaction. “I love you if…” or “If you don’t, I’ll take my love away.” Many of us grew up in this kind of love—where love had to be earned. Good grades? Love. Messed up? Love withdrawn. Hello to my fellow ‘80s and earlier babies—I see you.
